Description
I finally broke down and did a girl costume just because Korra is so entirely badass and I like her design so much. I thought it would be a fairly simple costume at the start but that totally wasn't the case once I got into it. I chose to do her design from Book 2: [link] just because it hasn't been done to death yet *coughhipstercosplayercough*
Starting from the top, the wig is a Dark Brown Inigo from Arda Wigs. I had to take all the wefts off in the back and resew them so they went up smoothly into the pony tail. I did the hair ornaments with ~lifesAdarkART's great tutorial here: [link] (Thanks for sharing! It totally saved my butt!)
The shirt was made with Burda Pattern 8347: [link] with some modifications to make it more like the reference image. The neckline is edged with bias tape and the arms with a stretchy polyester that took me two days to get right. The shirt itself is a cotton/spandex blend that had to be dyed a couple of times before it was the right shade.
The arm warmers came from Sock Dreams: [link] They were originally white but I dyed them dark blue.
You can't see the rest of it in this shot but the pants are linen/cotton - just used a nice, easy pyjama pant pattern you can find anywhere.
The boots are hand-made out of leather and white furry calf-hide. It's a shame you can't see them here because I'm super-proud of them but I'm going to throw some WIP shots of them up on my Facebook page over the next couple of days: [link] Totally trying to pimp the ol' Facebook page nowadays. It's chock-full of WIP goodness, tips, and photos.
